2 overstaying foreigners nabbed
The arrests followed intelligence reports of overstaying foreign nationals in the areas. BI Commissioner Atty. Joel Anthony Viado reiterated the Bureau’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws, stating that overstayers will face legal consequences.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported on Friday the arrest of two foreign nationals in separate operations in Bohol and Cebu for violating immigration laws by overstaying in the country.
On Thursday, BI Intelligence Division (BIID) agents, in coordination with the Panglao Municipal Police, apprehended 27-year-old Chinese national Dong Chengzhi in Doljo, Panglao, Bohol.
On the same day, a 48-year-old Japanese national, Takeshi Nishiyama, was detained in Kasambagan, Cebu City, with the assistance of Mabolo Police Station. Both individuals were found to have overstayed their permitted stay in the country.

The two foreigners will remain in BI custody pending the resolution of their deportation cases.
