The Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) reported on Wednesday that an outbound passenger bound for Singapore was arrested by authorities at Davao International Airport, Davao City last Tuesday night.
In a statement, the PNP-AVSEGROUP disclosed that the Bureau of Immigration at Davao International Airport, the Sasa Police Station (PS4) of the Davao City Police Office and the Davao International Airport Police Station worked together to execute the successful operation.
The accused was taken into custody based on an existing bench warrant for violating Article 316 of the Revised Penal Code, which addresses other forms of swindling.
He was placed in the custody of the Davao City Police Office, Sasa Police Station (PS4), for documentation and further legal proceedings.
PNP-AVSEGROUP director PBGen Christopher M. Abecia commended the cooperation of the participating agencies and stressed that airports will never serve as a haven for individuals with outstanding legal liabilities.
“Our airports serve as gateways for lawful travel, not as exit points for those seeking to evade the law,” Abecia said.
