The Philippines handed over its donation as part of its humanitarian assistance to those affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported Sunday.
OCD Administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno led the turnover of essential supplies, including 8,323 bonnets, 3,187 pairs of gloves, and 20 blankets, to the Jordanian Consulate on 7 February.
The donation supported the Humanitarian Air Bridge Campaign of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
In his statement on Sunday, Nepomuceno extended the country's sympathy to those impacted by the crisis in Gaza.
“We stand in solidarity with all those impacted by this tragedy and recognize the urgency of the situation,” he said.
He likewise underscored the significance of international cooperation.
“We are hopeful that today’s ceremony will not only celebrate the successful partnership we have forged but also inspire other Philippine agencies to join future rounds of this important campaign. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need, both here and abroad,” he said.
Since 7 October 2023, the conflict in Gaza has displaced millions of people and killed thousands of people, including soldiers and civilians.
