Paris Olympics fencer Samantha Catantan is steadily making progress from her knee injury.
National team coach Amat Canlas said his star ward is already walking normally but was advised to not participate in training and matches yet.
Catanatan made waves in the Summer Games last year as she stunned World No. 65 Mariana Pistoia of Brazil in the Table of 64.
“She is walking normally now. She was supposed to compete in the world championships in July but the doctors wouldn’t allow it,” Canlas said.
“She will start her training in August.”
With Catantan having a more flexible schedule at Penn State University as she takes up her Master’s degree in Accounting, Canlas wants her to join the national team training here in the Philippines.
“Penn State has been really taking care of her. She is already taking up her MA so I told her she has to come and join us for training camp,” Canlas said.
“We know she’s a fighter.”
