Floodwater can be scary if it harbors germs that can infect people with leptospirosis and other water-borne diseases. Even more terrifying was the floodwater that recently rampaged through a village in Hengzhou, China, after a reservoir collapsed.
A viral photo of the deluge shows several cobras swimming in the floodwater with their heads protruding above the surface. There were actually hundreds of assorted snakes slithering through the floodwater after escaping from a breeding farm, the New York Post (NYP) reported.
The Hengzhou Emergency Management Bureau sent teams to assist residents and search for the escaped reptiles. Local authorities also stocked up on antivenom and advised residents on what to do if they encountered a snake.
Meanwhile, in Paris, spray water menaced motorists and tourists along the famed Saint-Martin Canal. While a heat wave prompted authorities to deploy mist sprayers to help cool people outdoors, a 14-year-old boy calling himself Customs officer Hamza sprayed water for 2 euros using a water gun.
The shirtless Hamza, however, also sprayed other people, including police officers, just for fun.
“Most of the time, I don’t apologize. I spray and I run away,” he told the French newspaper Le Parisien.
Aside from spraying people with water, Hamza shoved a bikini-clad woman into the canal while she was sunbathing, rode an electric scooter with a stolen bar chair attached, threw a chair into the canal, stole a can of soda and broke into a woman’s apartment to record himself insulting her.
All of the boy’s antics were caught on camera, and he has been arrested and detained for various acts of mischief since 27 June.
Hamza’s father tolerates his son’s behavior, while his mother was unaware of his antics. Whenever Hamza was arrested, pro-Palestinian lawyer Elsa Marcel was hired to defend him, NYP reported.
Most recently, Marcel defended Hamza against people posting insults and threats against the boy on social media. The lawyer threatened to sue them as the emboldened and unapologetic Hamza continued spraying others.
