Eugene Domingo, known for her hilarious antics and relatable characters, has recently revealed a surprising side to her life: her academic journey.

In a candid vlog, Domingo shared that she spent eight years completing her Bachelor of Arts in Theater Arts at the prestigious University of the Philippines Diliman.

This revelation has sparked conversations about the importance of education and the multifaceted nature of one of the country’s most beloved entertainers.

Beyond show business, Domingo’s heart has always been dedicated to learning. She recalled, “Kung mayroon akong mga desisyon sa buhay na never kong pinagsisihan, is ‘yung tinapos ko ‘yung education ko (I have no regrets I’ve graduated and finished my education).”

Her decision to spend eight years in college, even as her acting career was taking off, is a testament to her commitment to her studies and her passion for theater.

Domingo’s choice to attend state universities, including a year at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, was also significant. She explained, “Mahilig talaga ko sa state university. Ayaw ko talagang gumastos ‘pag nag-aaral masyado, lalo na noong college, kasi wala naman talaga akong pambayad (I love studying in state universities because its free and I didn’t have the means to pay for a more expensive education).”

This decision reflected her desire to make education accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial background.

The actress’s decision to pursue a degree in theater arts was a natural fit, given her passion for performing. Her time at UP Diliman allowed her to hone her craft, working on various productions and gaining invaluable experience in the world of theater. Eugene’s decision to spend additional years in college, she explained, was because she simply enjoyed the university experience. “Yes, nag-overstay ako. Ang sarap sa university (I overstayed. It felt good studying),” she said.

The actress’ educational journey has undoubtedly enriched her life and career.

Her understanding of human behavior, her ability to connect with audiences on a deep level, and her appreciation for the nuances of language are all products of her academic pursuits. Her decision to prioritize her education, even as her acting career was taking off, is an inspiration to aspiring actors and students alike.

While Eugene is best known for her comedic roles, her academic achievements serve as a reminder that there is more to her than meets the eye. She is a well-rounded individual with a deep appreciation for learning and a strong commitment to her craft.
