Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor "Jonvic" Remulla on Wednesday issued a warning about impostors posing as him and soliciting financial assistance.
"We received reports that some persons have been impersonating me on various social media and messaging apps for nefarious purposes," Remulla said in a Notice to the Public.
Remulla clarified that he does not engage in soliciting financial help, nor has he authorized anyone to do so on his behalf.
"Please be advised that I am not engaged, nor have I authorized any person to engage in such solicitations," Remulla said.
"If you have received — or should you receive — any such requests, please: (1) do not entertain them and (2) report the incident immediately to 09688783561," he added.
In a radio interview earlier, Remulla shared that former Ilocos Sur Governor and senatorial candidate Luis "Chavit" Singson had been deceived by an impostor who posed as him and asked for P150,000, which Singson provided. However, when they later spoke on the phone, Singson was surprised to find out that Remulla had not received the money and had dismissed the request as a scam.
