Rico Blanco recently shared heartbreaking news with his followers: his younger brother, King, has been diagnosed with advanced cancer. In an emotional Instagram post, he reflected on their close relationship, filled with shared memories and adventures.
“This beautiful boy you see with me is my younger brother, King. Only a year apart, we did everything together growing up, like bestfriends, or even twins. We shared so many adventures and fought so many battles alongside each other. I love him so very dearly,” Rico wrote, expressing his deep love and bond with his brother.
Rico revealed that the diagnosis came suddenly, explaining that King was diagnosed with an aggressive form of squamous cell carcinoma (sinus) after rapid, unexpected signs appeared.
“A few weeks ago we received the terrible news that he has cancer. The signs all came too rapidly and seemingly out of nowhere,” he added.
King began his cancer treatments this week, and Rico expressed hope that their efforts aren’t too late, humbly asking for prayers, stating, “Please pray for King’s strength and healing.”
Rico emphasized the uncertainty of the situation but they remain hopeful. "I cannot bear to imagine a world without him in it," he admitted.
"This is our toughest battle. Please, please help us win."
Rico is also known for his classic OPM hits such as “Antukin,” “You’ll Be Safe Here,” and “Kisapmata.”
Beyond his music, he has expanded into entrepreneurship, recently opening Motel Mambo, a boutique hotel along MacArthur Highway in Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union.
