The Miss Universe Organization has officially confirmed that the 2026 edition of the pageant will be held in Puerto Rico, marking a grand return to one of the most decorated nations in the competition’s history. The announcement, made during the seventy-fourth Miss Universe pageant in Bangkok, instantly electrified fans across the globe — not least because Puerto Rico’s legacy in beauty pageantry is as vibrant as its Caribbean shores.
With five Miss Universe crowns, Puerto Rico stands among the pageant’s most successful countries, its queens celebrated for their charisma, discipline and stage presence. Bringing the competition to the island is both a tribute to this legacy and an opportunity for the nation to showcase its cultural pride on the world stage.
For former Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres, the news felt personal. A beloved figure in both Puerto Rican and Filipino pop culture, Dayanara expressed her joy at the homecoming, declaring, “I am so incredibly excited that the Miss Universe 2026 pageant will be held in my home country.”
Her reaction reflected the sentiment of many Puerto Ricans who view the event as an international celebration of their people and heritage.
Joining the excitement was R’Bonney Gabriel, Miss Universe 2022 and a Filipino-American, who jokingly volunteered to co-host the pageant. She quipped that she speaks “a little Spanish,” a playful nod to Puerto Rico’s language and culture. Dayanara responded that she would be happy to “adopt” R’Bonney, in the same spirit that the Philippines once embraced Dayanara during her years as a TV personality in Manila.
Dayanara also used the moment to extend an invitation to future delegates and visitors, highlighting Puerto Rico’s natural wonders — from beaches and historic forts to rainforests and old towns.
As Puerto Rico prepares to welcome the Miss Universe family once more, pageant fans can expect a 2026 edition that blends tradition with spectacle.
