As passengers continue to praise their drivers for smooth and safe rides, motorcycle taxi company Angkas has also earned commendation from Senate lawmakers.
Senator Grace Poe lauded Angkas on Tuesday for its leadership in providing proper training to its riders, ensuring passenger safety. She specifically praised Angkas CEO George Royeca for spearheading efforts to professionalize the habal-habal industry.
“I commend Angkas for doing this because the company was the one that spearheaded the professionalization of habal-habal,” Poe said during a Senate Committee on Public Services hearing.
Angkas is the first Transportation Network Company (TNC) in the Philippines to develop its own basic motorcycle driving program, offering formal training to its riders to guarantee passenger safety.
Senator Raffy Tulfo, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Public Services, also commended Angkas for its commitment to ensuring that all riders adhere to government policies.
During the hearing, Angkas' Royeca revealed that the company maintains a 99.997 percent safety record, making it the safest motorcycle taxi service in the country.
To uphold this safety standard, Royeca explained that Angkas has engaged a Triple-A third-party auditor to monitor and audit its safety performance.
“This is already our second year of implementation. We engage a Triple-A third-party auditor to audit our safety record,” Royeca said.
