Lasallian brother Br. Martin Sellner FSC passed away on Sunday, 12 January, the Lasallian East Asia District (LEAD) announced. He was 87.
Sellner was a chemistry teacher from the Christian Brothers of the Midwest in the United States.
He accepted an invitation to serve the Lasallian Mission in the Philippines by joining the 1911 Brothers’ Community from 1985-2000 and later returning to retire in 2013.
“His unwavering faith, dedication to service, and commitment to education have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him in both the United States and the Philippines,” the LEAD said.
The LEAD said Sellner was renowned for his diverse interests, including his fondness for cross-stitching, creating dance videos, and his love for vanilla ice cream and chicharon.
“As we remember Br. Martin Sellner FSC, we honor a life defined by faith, friendship, and service. His enduring legacy will continue to inspire us all,” it added.
Sellner’s remains will lie in state at the Chapel of the Divine Child, La Salle Green Hills, Mandaluyong, until 15 January 2025.
Daily Masses will be celebrated until the day of his funeral on 16 January. He will be interred at the Brothers’ Memorial Cloister in Lipa City.
