President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. issued a statement on Sunday expressing his deepest sympathies to the victims of the most destructive wildfire, which swept through at least 37,000 acres of land in the greater Los Angeles area in California, United States of America (USA).
“On behalf of the Filipino people, I extend my deepest sympathies to all who have been affected by the devastating wildfires in Southern California, USA — a place that many of our kababayans call home,” Marcos said.
Marcos wishes “the community’s road to recovery begins with strength, compassion, and solidarity.”
“Please stay safe and vigilant,” the President added.
According to international reports, the California wind-fed fires have already destroyed more than 12,000 structures, with at least 13 people reportedly missing as of today.
However, reports also noted that it is still unclear if the reported missing persons are related to the wildfires.
The death toll due to the wildfire rose to 16 as of this press time.
