BALER, Aurora — More than 1,000 police and security forces launched Commission on Elections checkpoints across Aurora province as the election period officially began Sunday.
The checkpoint operations began with a ceremonial send-off at Barangay Bacong, San Luis, led by Aurora Provincial Election Supervisor Rene Cruz Jr.
Nine checkpoints and boundary posts were established across the province to enforce the gun ban and deter potential violations, according to Aurora Police Provincial Office acting director Col. Lucile Faycho.
“As mandated by the Joint Security Command Center, this initiative aims to ensure coordinated actions and decisions among all security forces,” Faycho said.
She also underscored the importance of observing the plain view doctrine to protect public rights, reminding law enforcement officers to avoid unnecessary searches or requiring vehicle occupants to alight without valid cause.
With over 28,000 voters in Baler alone, authorities said law enforcement and public support will be crucial in ensuring a safe and orderly election.
