First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos convened with representatives of various government agencies to strengthen the Philippine film industry and position the country as a global hub for filmmakers, emphasizing its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage.

On Friday, Mrs. Marcos shared photos on her social media of her meeting with Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco and representatives of several government sectors.

“Proud to work with our dedicated government agencies to find ways to support our movie industry and help promote our country as a premier film tourism destination!” the First Lady wrote.

“With our breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage, the Philippines can truly be a filmmaker’s dream. Let’s work together to make our country the next big thing on the global film stage!” she added.

The discussion, which took place on Wednesday, focused on promoting the country as a film tourism destination and finding ways to support local filmmakers.

On Thursday, Mrs. Marcos expressed her admiration for “Green Bones,” the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival Best Picture winner.

The First Lady watched the film at Uptown Mall in Taguig City and praised its creators for their outstanding work.

“It was such a treat to finally watch ‘Green Bones’ — this year’s MMFF Best Picture Award winner!” she shared.

“I’ve been hearing so many glowing reviews about how our Filipino films have leveled up in more ways than one. Then again, this shouldn’t come as a surprise since Filipinos are known for our boundless creativity and talent,” she said.

The First Lady congratulated the film’s creators, commending their dedication and hard work, and encouraged Filipinos to celebrate local films.

“I hope everyone gets the chance to enjoy all the other beautiful entries, as each one is a masterpiece in its own right,” she said. “Let’s support our movie industry and show the world how much talent we have to offer!”
