Authorities seized 10.706 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, with an estimated street value of P72,800,800 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 last Monday.

The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP), in collaboration with the Bureau of Customs (BoC), NAIA authorities, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and other members of the NAIA Drug Interdiction Task Group, discovered the illegal substance in an abandoned piece of luggage.

During an x-ray inspection, authorities flagged the luggage, revealing improvised pouches concealed within multiple bags.

PDEA field tests confirmed the substance as methamphetamine.

Authorities said the baggage tag indicated it belonged to a Belgian national passenger.
