A 32-year-old female passenger was arrested at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), following a joint police operation by elements of Mactan Cebu International Airport Police Station and Police Station 4 of Mandaue City Police Office.
In accordance with Republic Act 10175, also referred to as the “Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012,” authorities identified the female suspect as a dual citizen and married woman who had been arrested upon her arrival last 6 January from Taiwan. The suspect was detained based on an outstanding warrant of arrest for estafa, which stipulates a recommended bail amount of P30,000.
Currently, the suspect is in the custody of the Mandaue City Police Office for proper documentation and further inquest proceedings.
PNP-AVSEGROUP Officer-In-Charge PBGen Christopher M. Abecia commended the operation’s success and the troops’ cooperative efforts. He also emphasized the PNP-AVSEGROUP’s commitment to collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to prevent criminals from evading prosecution and to hold them accountable for their crimes.
