Despite the surge of travelers during the holiday rush, several instances of integrity have been reported at airports managed by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
On 26 December 2024, Rolito Lumagod, Albert Mantilla, and Richard Arevario, representing the Civil Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Engineering Support Services and Infrastructure (ESSI), discovered PHP 5,000 in cash in the Butuan Airport arrival area corridor.
A similar incident occurred at Puerto Princesa Airport on the same day. CAAP-PPIA AFC personnel Allan Martinez discovered a gray bag containing a brown wallet, cash, a passbook, and numerous identification cards belonging to Virgillo S. Olla Jr. Martinez stated that the bag was most likely left in the check-in area on top of a gang chair.
The PHP 5,000 cash found by Lumagod, Mantilla, and Arevario was successfully returned to Encarnacion Plaza, an inbound passenger on Flight 5J789 from Manila. Meanwhile, the left-behind gray pouch found at Puerto Princesa Airport remains in the custody of the CSIS office.
CAAP also reported that a left-behind clutch bag containing a passport, a passbook, and PHP 100,000 was successfully returned to its rightful owner after being discovered at Laguindingan Airport on 21 December by CSIS employee Jonie Naldo.
To maintain passenger confidence and satisfaction during the busiest season of the year, CAAP continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing safe, secure, and dependable airport management.
