Adreanne Pagsolingan, OCD Regional Information Officer in Region 1, on Friday, shared that this came about after Philippine Institute Volcanology and Seismology monitored a series of earthquakes since 17 December located at the Manila Trench offshore of Santa Catalina, Ilocos Sur, heightening vigilance across the region.
