The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) confirmed that a passenger aircraft experienced a brief runway excursion during its landing at Bacolod-Silay Airport on Friday.
Due to severe rainfall that significantly reduced braking effectiveness, Philippine Airlines Flight PR2285, arriving from Cebu, overshot Runway 03.
The aircraft exceeded the runway’s designated length and veered onto the taxiway.
Authorities and airport personnel responded swiftly to the situation, and all passengers and crew members were unharmed.
To conduct a thorough assessment of the runway as a precautionary measure, Philippine Airlines canceled Flight PR2286, scheduled to depart from Bacolod to Mactan (Cebu).
The affected travelers were promptly notified and provided with options to reschedule or make alternative travel arrangements.
CAAP remains committed to passenger safety and informs the public that a comprehensive investigation is underway to evaluate the situation and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
