Authorities arrested the notorious leader of the San Buenaventura Criminal Group during the implementation of the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) in Pasig City Tuesday afternoon.
The suspects were identified as Ronny Calayo and Pol John San Buenaventura, alias PJ; both members of the said criminal group. They were apprehended in a joint buy-bust operation conducted by the elements of Pasig City Police Station’s Drug Enforcement Unit, in coordination with the Station’s Intelligence Section around 1 p.m.
Authorities confiscated 24 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated drug value of P163,200.
Intelligence reports indicated that the suspects were involved in various crimes, including illegal drug operations, robberies, and thefts in Pasig City and nearby areas.
Records showed that alias PJ was arrested on 18 March 2022 for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 (prescribing stiffer penalties on illegal gambling).
Two other members of the criminal group, identified as alias Joven Calayo, were arrested on 1 August 2024 for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition), and alias Rogel, who was twice arrested for theft on 20 October 2019 and 19 September 2023.
