South Korean stars IU and Byeon Woo Seok have been confirmed to lead the upcoming MBC romance drama Wife of a 21st Century Prince (working title), as announced by Kakao Entertainment on Monday.

Set in an alternate Korea under a constitutional monarchy, the drama follows Sung He Joo (played by IU), a chaebol heiress dissatisfied with her “commoner” status, and Lee Ahn (played by Byeon Woo Seok), a prince who holds nothing beyond his royal title. Their chance encounter sets the stage for a life-changing story of love and self-discovery.

This marks a reunion for the two actors, as Byeon Woo Seok briefly appeared as IU’s unfaithful boyfriend in the 2016 hit Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo.

Slated to premiere in late 2025, the drama has already generated buzz among fans. Many have expressed excitement over the pairing and speculated about the OST, as both actors are celebrated for their musical talents.
