The New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation's (NNIC) road expansion project along Mia Road toward Terminal 2 in Pasay City was temporarily suspended Thursday due to the discovery of a large, live vintage bomb deemed too dangerous to move. The unexpected find prompted immediate action from authorities to ensure public safety in the area.
A member of the Philippine National Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (PNP EOD) team stated that the vintage bomb would be taken to their headquarters at the back of Park n Fly in Pasay City for examination and proper disposal before its final transfer to Tarlac for safe decommissioning. Around 1 p.m., the bomb was securely transported to the EOD headquarters without incident.
The bomb, which measures 54 inches long and 63 inches in circumference, is believed to be of American origin and was likely used during World War II. Authorities have advised the public to exercise caution when construction projects uncover historical remnants, emphasizing the importance of reporting such discoveries to the proper authorities for safe handling.
