Presidential Communications Office (PCO) acting Secretary Cesar Chavez stressed the importance of print media amid mass digitalization and the emergence and utilization of Artificial Intelligence.
During the UPMGPhils Tinta Print Media Conference 2024, Chavez highlighted the enduring relevance of print media in the next years and decades to come.
“I am honored to stand before you, as we open a meaningful discussion on the worth of print media in the age of mass digitalization,” Chavez said in his message delivered by PCO Senior Undersecretary Emerald Anne Ridao.
“Indeed, I have only one point to make: print media will remain relevant in the years and decades to come,” he added.
While in today’s age of digital convenience and ease of access to information, Chavez said newspapers will always hold their place in the media industry.
“It is true that the digital revolution has made accessing information easier and more convenient than ever before. Never has it been simpler to like, share, and subscribe to news providers whose coverage aligns with our views,” he said.
“But this convenience is not sufficient to relegate print media to the dustbin of history,” he added.
Chavez highlighted the uniqueness of print compared to other mediums society enjoys today.
“These physical formats offer something digital cannot: a tangible sense of ownership, intentionality, authenticity, and deeper engagement with the content and its creators,” he said.
