A 59 year-old man was trapped and found dead in Navotas fire on Black Saturday.
Fire Supt. Ronaldo Sanchez, Navotas City Fire Marshal the victim was trapped and died on the second floor of a three-storey house at Barangay North Bay Boulevard South (NBSS), Dagat-dagatan when the fire broke out at around 3:00 am.
Firefighters were not able to save the victim as the fire already engulfed the house which is made of light materials.
Aside from the narrow streets leading to the site and the house was located at the back of a compound.
Sanchez said the fire was contained an hour later.
“Our firemen were hampered by narrow streets and the house was located at the back of a compound. They only learned later there was man trapped inside," Sanchez said.
He added that the victim was sickly and was asleep on the second floor of heir house when the fire broke out.
Arson probers are still investigating the cause of the fire as the family of the victim are not cooperating to authorities, according to Sanchez who placed the damage of the blaze at P45,000.
