At Sinsuat clan gathering, sudden burst of gunfire kills police escort

General Santos City—A burst of gunfire was overheard in Barangay Rosary 6, Cotabato City, Tuesday afternoon while a gathering of the influential and powerful Sinsuat clan was being held inside the residence of former Congressman Ronnie Sinsuat Sr.
Police reports revealed that while a meeting of former Congressman Ronnie and his sibling, Maguindanao del Norte Vice Governor along with Datu Odin Sinsuat Mayor Datu Lester Sinsuat was ongoing, a sudden burst of gunfire was overheard that resulted in a police officer, an escort to one of the VIPs, to be shot and later declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
The Sinsuat clan was holding a meeting to settle some family disputes and even discussed unity among them. Personnel from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Philippine Marines, and the Cotabato City Police all rushed to the area to prevent further escalation of the incident.
The police have not yet named the police escort that died in the incident pending additional investigation. There were also no reports that any member of the Sinsuat clan was hurt or injured.
