A lady bank client was killed while six others were wounded when a Sports Utility Vehicle made a sudden acceleration and went straight inside a bank in Quezon City late afternoon Thursday.
Police identified the fatality who died early Friday while being treated at Commonwealth Hospital as Rosali dela Cruz. While those who were injured were Liza Janap, Maria Papio, and Hermie Ocampo, all bank clients. Other bank employees injured were Dorothy Castillo; Jessica Susano and Edilberto Lazarez a security guard.
Reports from the Quezon City Police District Traffic Sector-2 revealed that the incident happened around 5:30 pm on (December 28, 2023) at the BDO bank branch along Quirino Highway in Barangay Pasong Putik in Fairview, Quezon City.
Police apprehended the driver of an SUV Toyota Fortuner (AWA-2536) registered under the name of Ofelie Bisong, that went through the bank and identified him as Edwin Balisong, 57, of Bristol Street Brgy. North Fairview.
Balisong's drive suddenly accelerated while he was about to drive backward hitting another SUV a Mitsubishi Adventure driven by Demetrio Carbonell, after going directly to the bank's facade, hitting the security guards at the entrance door and going straight to the counter where the client and bank tellers are on their transactions.
Balisong was booked for Damage To Property and Multiple Physical injuries including homicide charges for the death of Dela Cruz
