A 33-year-old man driving a bicycle died after he was dragged and run over by a speeding bus Monday afternoon in Sampaloc, Manila.
MPD acting chief P/Col. Thomas Ibay identified the bicycle rider (fatality) as Russel Tapayan y Balansag, male, 33 years old, last resided at Bistik Vill 4, Barangay Culliat, Quezon City.
The suspect bus driver was identified as Ar-Jay de castro y De Chavez, (under custody of UBA PCP personnel, PS14 for Physical Examination) male, 30 years old, bus driver, resident of San Isidro Street, Santo Niño, Quezon City.
The incident occurred on 24 December at around 2:30 p.m. along the eastbound lane of Lerma Street near corner R. Papa Street, Sampaloc, Manila.
Based on a traffic investigation prior to the incident, the bicycle ridden by Russel Tapayan was traveling along the eastbound lane of Lerma Street, Sampaloc, Manila. Upon reaching a certain spot near the corner R. Papa Street, its rear portion hit/bumped and subsequently ran over and drag for several meters the cyclist which resulted to his instantaneous death.
The suspect is presently under detention while charges for Homicide with Damage to Property will be filed against him at the Manila City Prosecutors Office.
