BAGUIO CITY — Three computer engineering students in Baguio City are seeking help to further develop their invention that will contribute to the ease of garbage disposal problem of the city.

The three students — identified as Kyle Russell Lucero, Aryk John Mosquete and  Samuel Sta. Cruz from the University of the Cordilleras — presented in June this year a "Smart Garbage Bin" which was installed at the Rose Garden of Burnham Park.

Lucero explained that said garbage bin has built-in sensors that will enable the trash bin to open its lid every time a person will come near to it to throw their garbage. He said that the lid will not close until the person goes away or leave the trash bin.

He added that the bin is also equipped with advanced technology where it can transmit signals to the central command in the smart command center in the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center.
