Add Peter June Simon to the list of basketball legends who are joining the Pilipinas Super League.

A member of the San Mig Coffee squad that won the Philippine Basketball Association grand slam in 2014, the 43-year-old Simon had been appointed as the PSL's deputy commissioner for Mindanao.

Simon, a pride of Makilala, South Cotabato, will join the PSL's management team headed by former PBA stars Allan Caidic as commissioner and Gerry Esplana as deputy commissioner.

Aside from Simon, former PBA superstar Dondon Hontiveros had also been appointed as PSL deputy commissioner for the Visayas while Jayvee Gayoso will serve as PSL deputy commissioner for Luzon to complete the league's star-studded management team.

"I'm already retired as a player," said Simon, who retired as an eight-time PBA champion with five titles under Tim Cone with the old Purefoods franchise.

His last championship came in the Governors' Cup in 2018 until injuries slowed him down, prompting him to retire when the league held a bubble tournament three years ago.

"This is a new chapter for me, a new journey," Simon added while watching former teammate KG Cañaleta and Biñan beat Bicol, 84-62, in the President's Cup.

"So to those from Mindanao, watch out for the PSL's Mindanao leg in January."
