The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced on Friday that the Freedom of Information – Project Management Office (FOI-PMO) of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) has recognized the Bureau of Immigration (BI) as a Top Requested and Performing Agency.
According to the bureau, the BI was distinguished for handling at least 90 percent of closed transactions through the eFOI portal.
The 2023 FOI Awarding Ceremony was held on 21 November and was graced by an opening message delivered by PCO Undersecretary Cherbett Maralit.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco then emphasized the importance of the FOI program for good governance.
Tansingco said that in order to promote a democratic society, the FOI program is essential. The bureau is dedicated to maintaining information accessibility and transparency to provide better public services.
"This recognition motivates us to continue contributing to the progress and success of the FOI program, further advancing transparency and accountability across the nation," the BI chief added.
Every year, selected government agencies that have made strides towards granting Filipinos the right to access information are recognized with this award given by the PCO.
