A top official of the Department of Budget and Management has urged barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials to properly utilize their funds with the Mandanas-Garcia Supreme Court ruling.

The Mandanas-Garcia was brought about by the petition made by Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas and former Bataan Governor and congressman the late Enrique Garcia Jr. before the Supreme Court on local government shares on internal revenue allotment and according to Garcia and Mandanas, local government unit shares should include all national taxes.

Pineda explained that the ruling involves the inclusion of collections from the Bureau of Customs and other collecting agencies as certified by the Bureau of the Treasoury as part of the taxes of the national government.
