Cebu guv disappointed over critics as ‘lugaw’ feeding program takes off
Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia expressed disappointment with critics as the daily "lugaw" (porridge) feeding program was officially launched a week ago.
The governor accused critics of being greedy and uninformed as she emphasized that continuous dole-outs and rice allowances would strain the capitol's resources.
Netizens proposed to replace the porridge feeding program by distributing five kilos of rice to families of public school students.
"We are to help each other, it's not only government for all the needs. This is government, Parent-Teacher Association, and the DepEd. In the 10 months that our beloved students in school, there is food," Garcia stressed.
To address the situation, the provincial government plans to call for a general assembly at the IEC Pavilion in Mabolo, Cebu City to explain the feeding program. Attendees will include Department of Education officials, school heads, and Parent-Teacher Association officers, fostering dialogue for better understanding.
