Powerhouse teams San Miguel and TNT are giddy with excitement over their prized recruits seeing action in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner's Cup that starts today.

The Beermen can't wait to unveil Ivan Aska, who team manager Gee Abanilla thinks is "a bigger version of Dez Wells."

"He's strong and has excellent Leaping ability. We were left in awe the moment he joined us in practice (on Friday)."

The 6-feet-4 Wells was the Beermen's import during the 2019 Governors' Cup and the East Asia Super League.

Like Wells, Aska, who arrived in the country on Friday and immediately showed up for training, played for the United States Virgin Islands national team in 2011 and 2015 and had toured the world while playing.

He has displayed his wares in Belgium, Greece, Puerto Rico, Israel, Korea, France, Macedonia, Hungary, Uruguay and Mexico.

Welcoming him was Tyler Stone, the import he will replace.

Stone was forced to leave so he could be with his wife who will soon give birth.

"Stone is so professional. He made sure that he'll not leave until the replacement import arrives."

But Aska will have to wait until 15 November before he could exhibit his skill set when the Beermen meet NLEX at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Like San Miguel, TNT also has high hopes on Quincy Miller after his release from Converge.

Miller averaged 30 points and over 15 rebounds a game when he last played in the PBA.

The Tropang Giga think tank said Miller's familiarity with the PBA's brand of play should make him a good for the team.
