The barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections were concluded by the Commission on Elections on Wednesday but put on hold the proclamation of 59 winners pending the resolution of their disqualification cases.
According to Comelec spokesperson Rex Laudiangco, about 256 respondents were issued orders for suspension of proclamations.
"Out of the 256, as of latest data, 59 won and their proclamations had been suspended per the order," Laudiangco said in an interview.
Laudiangco added that the electoral body plans to resolve all disqualification cases by December.
"The Comelec is intending to resolve all these cases within the month of November but given the influx of further cases, we might be able to finish and resolve these cases as committed by Chairman George Garcia until December," Laudiangco added.
The Comelec earlier approved a resolution allowing the suspension of the proclamation of winning candidates with unresolved or pending cases before the poll body.
On the latest report of the Comelec, the Anti-Epal Task Force filed petitions for disqualification against 19 candidates in violation of premature campaigning and 55 candidates for illegal campaigning. A total of 294 petitions were filed by the Comelec.
