The Bureau of Immigration warned on Friday the traveling public not to fall prey to recruiters who provide fake documents.
It issued the reminder after a female traveler was stopped at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport for using fake travel credentials provided by her recruiter.
She said she was travelling to Oman to visit her husband, but the marriage certificate she provided was discovered to be a forgery. She later admitted all her other documents were fake.
A review of her travel history showed that the woman first tried to leave for Malaysia in September last year, but immigration agents stopped her because she was carrying bogus documents.
According to the BI's immigration protection and border enforcement unit, the victim even supplied an altered wedding photo to officials in an effort to mislead them.
The victim also admitted that she paid more than P30,000 for the fake documents. Her case was forwarded to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking to unmask her recruiter.
