Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz and Southeast Asian Games champion Elreen Ando fell short in making it to the podium of the women's 59-kilogram event of the IWF World Championships in Riyadh Saturday morning.
Diaz finished the competition at seventh overall with a snatch of 97kgs and a clean-and-jerk of 127kgs for a total lift of 224kgs.
Meanwhile, Ando finished eighth overall after lifting a snatch of 100kgs and a clean-and-jerk of 122kgs for a total lift of 222kgs.
Luo Shifang of China dominated the event with a total lift of 243kgs while two-time European champion Kamila Konotop came in at second with 236kgs.
Chinese weightlifter and defending champion Pei Xinyi got third place after an overall lift of 232kgs.
