FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija — A top female official of the New People's Army Central Luzon Regional Committee Regional White Area Committee was arrested by the authorities recently at San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.
7th Infantry Division commander Maj. Gen. Andrew D. Costelo disclosed that members of the Philippine Army's 70th Infantry Battalion and the Philippine National Police served a warrant of arrest to the NPA rebel identified as Janeth Cruz.
Cruz was believed having many aliases such as Aryang, Libay, Ditsy, Laura, Frankie, Trixie, Ali and Marbel.
The suspect is facing charges of murder and attempted murder at the Regional Trial Court Branch 71 Iba, Zambales in relations to crimes perpetrated against the people. She was immediately taken to the Criminal and Investigation and Detection Group in Malolos City, Bulacan for inquest proceedings.
Costelo lauded the successful operation of the Army and PNP, citing that the intensified anti-insurgency campaign in Region-3 is working successfully, and assured the relentless pursuit against the remaining members of the communist terrorist group.
"The arrest of the CLRC Secretary in Bulacan is a major setback to the CTG in Central Luzon especially in its financial operation. This success is the result of our continuing collaboration with the PNP in keeping the peace and security especially this Christmas season," Costelo said.
