SAN ILDEFONSO, Bulacan — Police in Bulacan have arrested a suspected member of the Lorenzana criminal group and seized from him four guns, ammunition and a grenade.
Rico Arpon Irabagon was arrested in his house in Barangay Anyatam, San Ildefonso town by municipal police on Tuesday when they served him his arrest warrant, Police Regional Office 3 Director Brigadier General Cesar Pasiwen said in a statement issued yesterday.
The warrant was issued by Judge Maria Zenaida Bernadette T. Mendiola of Regional Trial Court Branch 80 in Malolos City, Bulacan.
Seized from Irabagon were a .45 caliber pistol with serial number 1133318, trademark Springfield Armory (Ronin Executive); its magazine, 10 live ammunition and silencer; a 9mm marked STI International with serial number 082175; its three magazines and 14 live bullets; a 12-gauge shotgun and its six ammunition; a hand grenade; and a medium size transparent plastic bag containing 12 small size heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.
Pasiwen said the arrest of Irabago is in line with the Malasakit + Kaayusan + Kapayapaan = Kaunlaran program of Philippine National Police Chief General Rodolfo Azurin Jr.
The PNP's aggressive drive to recover and seize loose firearms as well as prevent the proliferation of illegal drugs through continuous police operations and serving of search warrants against illegal gun owners are being carried out as we are committed to account all weapons being used as instruments of crime, he said.
