Press Secretary OIC Cheloy Garafil on 30 October denied rumors President Bongbong Marcos was in Japan while presiding over a disaster council meeting on 29 October via video amid Tropical Storm "Paeng."
"Wala po siya sa Japan," said Garafil, as #NasaanAngPangulo and #NasaJapan trended on Twitter.
The conjecture Marcos was not in the Philippines when he conducted the emergency meeting with government officials stemmed from the backdrop of his video. It looked like he was in a kitchen with power outlets similar to those in Japan.
