Manila policemen scored big in the campaign against illegal drugs as operatives of MPD police station 1 collared a suspected member of a big-time drug syndicate.
MPD PS 1 chief P/Lt. Col. Rosalino Ibay Jr. on Sunday confirmed to Daily Tribune the arrest of one Brian Pabilona, a resident of San Juan City, implicated in an attempt to smuggle 300 kilos of shabu worth P1.8 billion at the Port of Manila last March.
Pabilona was nabbed inside a building along Escolta in Sta. Cruz, Manila on the strength of a warrant issued by Branch 13 of the Manila Regional Trial Court. No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
Ibay said they are tracking down other suspects in the huge shabu shipment.
Also on Sunday, MPD chief P/Brig. Gen. Andrei Dizon announced the arrest of P/MSsg. Rodolfo Mayor Jr., 48, a member of the Police Drug Enforcement Group.
Mayor's arrest stemmed from an operation which had a suspected drug pusher, Rey Atadero, being nabbed along Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Tondo, Manila.
Mayor's alleged involvement in the drug trade came to light based on documents seized from where Atadero was earlier arrested.
Likewise, Atadero pointed at Mayor as his alleged supplier of shabu. The policeman was arrested in an entrapment operation that had been set up with the help of Atadero.
Recovered from the suspects were two kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P13.6 million. Also seized were the cop's service pistol and his PNP identification card.
Dizon commended his men who effected the arrests of the suspects while warning criminal elements to stay away from Manila.
