Upon realizing it was a fire incident, Perez then told viewers that they would go on a break

Two news programs of ABS -CBN — ANC and Teleradyo — were suspended early Tuesday after a fire hit the compound of the network in Quezon City.

The fire that reached the first alarm and prompted the evacuation of workers was declared out by the Bureau of Fire Protection by 8:40 a.m.

BFP investigators have yet to share details except that the fire may have been started by an electrical fault.

Anchor Amy Perez was speaking during the show "Sakto" on Teleradyo when fire alarms blared, prompting her to joke that it may have been the school recess bell being sounded.

"What is that alarm we are hearing? Later. Is it time for recess?" she said in Filipino, apparently talking to studio staff members.

Upon realizing it was a fire incident, Perez then told viewers that they would go on a break. Later, her fellow broadcaster Jeff Canoy explained what happened on Instagram.

"Sorry guys, we had to cut our morning news show earlier. Had to evacuate after smoke alarms went off at the ABS-CBN main building. Thanks for the kind messages. We're all okay. And heading back to work," Canoy wrote on IG.
