QC Green Awards honors resilience models

The Quezon City government recognized barangays, schools, businesses, institutions and community organizations for their initiatives to strengthen disaster resilience, improve food security, promote green buildings, and reduce plastic and textile waste during the 2026 Quezon City Green Awards on Thursday.
Winning organizations received grants of up to P300,000 to support their proposed innovations or project.
Held at Seda Vertis North, the awarding ceremony showcased how community-driven initiatives can help build safer and more sustainable communities, from identifying earthquake vulnerabilities in buildings to turning textile waste into livelihood opportunities.
“Let us continue to operate on hope — not as a passive wish, but as our strongest weapon. A cooler, greener, and safer Quezon City is not just a dream; it is already being built by the people in this room,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
For its 2026 edition, the QC Green Awards shifted from grouping entries by sector to recognizing initiatives that address specific climate and disaster-related challenges. It received 123 entries, of which 82 advanced to the semifinals and 50 qualified for the finals.
