Sharp CEO visits Philippine operations

Sharp Corporation president and CEO Tetsuji Kawamura visited the company’s Philippine operations on 20 October, meeting with employees and inspecting its manufacturing facilities as part of his ASEAN tour.
The visit included a factory tour, a company-wide town hall meeting and a roundtable discussion with selected employees, bringing together personnel from Sharp Philippines’ operations and branches across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
A total of 190 employees attended the town hall in person, while another 131 employees from regional branches participated through Zoom.
During the meeting, Kawamura outlined his priorities for renewed growth, stronger corporate communication and closer relationships with employees and customers. He emphasized decisive action, effective execution, openness and learning from mistakes, while encouraging employees to uphold Sharp’s values of sincerity and creativity.
He also identified opportunities in physical artificial intelligence, AI servers and satellite communications, describing the Philippines as a promising market for future growth. Amid business challenges, he urged employees to remain focused on their targets and seek improvements in every peso spent.
Kawamura also presented five leadership principles aimed at strengthening communication, accountability and teamwork: maintaining an open-door policy, promptly communicating bad news, taking immediate action to address challenges, seeking support from headquarters when necessary and not being afraid of failure.
During a separate roundtable discussion with 30 selected employees, Kawamura shared insights from his international career and leadership philosophy. He encouraged them to build respectful relationships, set clear goals, make timely decisions, learn from setbacks and prepare for future responsibilities by looking beyond their current roles.
The gathering, which featured a Filipino fiesta theme, provided employees with an opportunity to interact with the company executive and share their perspectives.
