More than half of Filipinos have little knowledge of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial, even as 55 percent said they were interested in the proceedings, according to a Pulse Asia survey released Wednesday.

The survey, conducted through face-to-face interviews with 2,400 adults aged 18 and above from 17 to 24 September, found that 53 percent of respondents said they knew little about Duterte’s impeachment case.

Meanwhile, 58 percent of respondents identified television and the internet as their leading sources of information about the trial.

“Near to small majorities in Metro Manila (48 percent), the rest of Luzon (55 percent), the Visayas (51 percent), Mindanao (52 percent), Class D (54 percent), and Class E (60 percent) know little about the case. In Class ABC, a little over half (52 percent) claim to have sufficient knowledge of the matter,” the survey result said.

“At the national level, 35 percent have enough knowledge of the impeachment case, 6 percent have almost/completely no knowledge, and 5 percent have a great deal of knowledge,” the survey further said.

On the other hand, 55 percent are interested in the Vice President’s trial.

“A quarter of Filipino adults (25 percent) cannot say if they are interested or not interested in the impeachment trial, while disinterest is expressed by a fifth (20 percent). Near-majority support in all geographic areas and most socioeconomic classes are interested in the trial (48 percent to 62 percent and 56 percent to 64 percent, respectively), with Class E being the exception (43 percent interested versus 36 percent undecided),” the survey said.

The top sources of information about Duterte’s impeachment trial are the Internet (64 percent) and television (59 percent), particularly news on these media platforms (both at 58 percent).

The survey also found that, across areas and classes, most people get their information about the trial from online news (51 percent to 67 percent and 57 percent to 64 percent, respectively).

Meanwhile, small majorities in Metro Manila (59 percent), the rest of Luzon (65 percent), Class ABC (65 percent), and Class D (60 percent) cite television news as their information source.

71% ‘aware’ of unexplained wealth

Most Filipino adults are aware of allegations of unexplained wealth against Vice President Sara Duterte, according to a Pulse Asia survey released Wednesday.

The Ulat ng Bayan national survey on the Vice President’s impeachment case and trial, conducted in September 2026, found that 71 percent of Filipino adults were aware of the allegations.

However, 39 percent said they could neither confirm nor deny the allegations, making it the most common response. The survey also showed shifts in public awareness and perceptions of the allegations’ truthfulness between July and September 2026.

Majorities nationwide and across geographic and socioeconomic groups reported awareness of the allegations, ranging from 62 percent to 84 percent across regions and 69 percent to 75 percent across socioeconomic classes.

From July to September, awareness declined by 10 percentage points nationwide, 13 percentage points in Metro Manila, 14 percentage points in the rest of Luzon, nine percentage points in Mindanao, and 11 percentage points among Class D respondents.

Most Mindanao residents (71 percent) considered the allegations untrue, and a plurality of Class E respondents (44 percent) shared that view.
