Efforts are under way for Eumir Marcial to avenge the devastating defeat of his friend and fellow Zamboanga native Weljon Mindoro to Mexican bad boy Carlos Ocampo, the Filipino banger’s American representative said on Tuesday.

“We are working on that matchup,” an excited Sean Gibbons told DAILY TRIBUNE.

Ocampo broke the hearts of Filipino fight fans after knocking out Mindoro in the ninth round of their 10-round middleweight match last 29 August at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.

The loss proved costly for Mindoro, who was penciled to represent the Philippines in the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya if he had beaten Ocampo.

Marcial himself is coming off a fight — a third-round knockout of Ulises Huerta — last month in Temecula, California.

The smashing win—made notorious by Marcial’s counter right hook — could be a strong candidate for knockout of the year.

Gibbons said Marcial should be on his way back to America in a few weeks “in time for a big fight in January (2027).”

“Big things are coming for Eumir,” added Gibbons.

Marcial, a southpaw who turned professional almost six years ago in Los Angeles, holds an 8-0-0 win-loss-draw record with five knockouts.
