AcroCity, a brand-new venue for volleyball, was inaugurated Saturday by Mighty Sports as a response to the rapid growth of the sport in the country, drawing a good mix of young and old fans.
The facility, located in Guiguinto in Bulacan, was attended by the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles of the Premier Volleyball League as well as Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) star Scottie Thompson of Barangay Ginebra.
The inauguration of its volleyball center came after Mighty Sports officially opened its basketball courts two weeks prior, where former Xavier School and PBA stars, led by Chris Tiu and Joseph Yeo, took part in a charity basketball event.
This time, it was the Thunderbelles’ turn to provide action and entertainment to the crowd, especially to the young ones who are also dreaming of representing the country in big-time events someday.
The huge turnout of fans left AcroCity and Czark Mak chairman Caesar Wongchuking delighted.
“Volleyball has a different magnetic force, fans really enjoyed the moment,” he said.
“Acrocity’s commitment to Bulacaños is to provide wholesome family entertainment, food and sports facilities,” Wongcuking said.
“Soon, we will expand our development in providing quality homes and to cater to the Bulacan residents but as an alternative to Metro Manila and other nearby Central Luzon investors.”
Wongchuking said the success of the event would not have been possible without the support of Bulacan Vice Governor Alex Castro, ZUS Coffe owner Frank Lao and the Thunderbelles, especially Jolina Dela Cruz and veterans Jovelyn Gonzaga, and Rachell Anne Daquiz who gamely interacted with the young fans during the meet-and-greet session.
