Fake parking attendants arrested

Police officers arrested three men posing as municipal parking attendants for allegedly collecting illegal and excessive parking fees from motorists in the Malate district, city officials announced Sunday.

Operatives from the Manila Police District Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (MPD-SMaRT) apprehended the suspects outside the Rizal Memorial Stadium along Adriatico Street following reports of extortion in the area.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso disclosed that the suspects failed to present official identification or credentials proving employment with the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau when confronted by police officers.

Domagoso urged motorists to remain vigilant against unauthorized fee collection schemes and warned that municipal authorities will prosecute individuals exploiting drivers.

"Let us not easily trust these tricksters posing as parking attendants," Domagoso said in a public statement. "We will not tolerate this kind of exploitation."
