The dragons of 'Threshing Day' were drawn by Filipino artist Joe Requeza

Did you know?
Rebecca Yarros may have imagined the world of Threshing Day, but a Filipino artist helped give some of its fantastical creatures their visual form.
Philippines-based illustrator Joe Requeza brought his fantasy artistry to Yarros’ latest release, creating illustrations that translate dragons and other elements from the page into striking visuals.
Fantasy worlds are familiar territory for Requeza. His work centers on bringing authors’ ideas to life, transforming creatures and characters that once existed only in words and imagination into fully realized art.
Away from his drawing desk, however, Requeza has a few interests of his own. He’s a coffee lover, a collector always on the lookout for rare finds and, perhaps most unusually, someone who enjoys reading words backward.
From the Philippines to the pages of an international fantasy release, Requeza is putting Filipino artistry in a world where dragons rule.
