MATCHA celebrates patience, precision and the simple joy of slowing down.
A little green, a little calm, and a moment to slow down.
Certified tea sommelier and tea educator Kendrick Dominic “KDU” Yu believes the simple act of preparing and drinking tea offers something increasingly rare: a reason to slow down. Rather than rushing through another cup, he encourages people to engage all their senses, turning tea into a mindful ritual that invites reflection, presence and genuine connection.
That philosophy echoes the enduring message of The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s beloved novella that has inspired readers for more than 80 years. Through its timeless lessons on love, friendship and simplicity, the classic reminds us that the most meaningful things in life cannot always be seen, measured or hurried.
Bringing those shared values together, tea brand Chagee has partnered with The Little Prince for a collaboration that celebrates mindfulness and meaningful connections. Inspired by one of literature’s most memorable lines — “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye” — the campaign encourages people to pause, reconnect with loved ones and appreciate life’s quieter moments over a cup of tea.
Heart behind every cup
The campaign also introduces the brand’s matcha series, built around what it calls its “Pure Heart Matcha” philosophy that begins with carefully sourced tea leaves. Only the first spring harvest is used, producing younger, more delicate leaves known for their naturally sweeter flavor and lower bitterness.
Before harvesting, the tea plants are shaded for about 20 days. This traditional cultivation method encourages the leaves to develop their vibrant green color while increasing amino acids responsible for matcha’s signature umami richness and smooth sweetness.
The leaves are then finely stone-ground to an ultra-fine 1,000-mesh standard, creating a silky texture that dissolves smoothly into every drink.
Rather than treating matcha as simply another beverage, the brand highlights the craftsmanship behind each step, from cultivation and harvesting to grinding, emphasizing that quality begins long before the tea reaches the cup.
Mindful ritual
Yu said tea stands apart from beverages designed purely for convenience because it encourages people to slow down and become fully present.
Modern life often moves on autopilot, with people rushing from one task to another while constantly glued to their screens. Tea, he said, offers the opposite experience.
From observing its vibrant color and delicate aroma to appreciating its texture and flavor, every cup invites a deliberate pause instead of hurried consumption.
That same intentionality reflects the lessons woven throughout The Little Prince, where meaningful relationships are built not through speed, but through time, care and presence.
Like the little prince tending to his rose, it celebrates the value of caring deeply for what is important, even when those moments seem ordinary.
Whether it means sharing afternoon tea with friends, taking a quiet break from a busy schedule or simply putting away the phone for a few minutes, the campaign echoes the story’s enduring message: life becomes richer when we choose to slow down and see with the heart.
Sometimes, what is essential isn’t found in grand adventures or extraordinary experiences. Sometimes, it begins with a conversation, a moment of stillness and a thoughtfully prepared cup of matcha.
