Two fishermen were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) after going missing in the waters of Balayan Bay, Batangas, on 20 August.
The fishermen said their boat encountered engine trouble at around 3 a.m. while they were returning home after fishing, leaving them unable to sail.
Because they had no communication equipment, they were unable to immediately alert their families or authorities.
After about 20 hours, at around 11:30 p.m., fellow fishermen spotted them in waters near Barangay Anak Dagat in Lemery and reported the incident.
The PCG immediately responded and rescued the two fishermen.
Barangay health workers later checked the fishermen and confirmed that they were in good health and had no injuries.
The PCG reminded fishermen to bring proper communication equipment and other essential safety gear whenever they go out to sea.
